Alien Head

A memoir about hiding, and what happens when you stop

Alien Head cover

For most of his life, if it started raining on a night out, Glenn went home. Not because of the rain. Because of what the rain did to his hair.

Alien Head starts with the smallest, most embarrassing version of a thing most of us do, and then goes looking for the rest of it. Twenty-five years of notes, journals and scribbles, gone back through and put in order at forty-six, mid-Atlantic, single, still in the middle of it.

There’s no tidy ending. No before-and-after where the hair grew back and the man got fixed. What’s here instead is the stuff most of us keep under a hat, and what happens on the rare occasions we take it off.
